Eyes // Final Project

Artist Statement

I am using portraiture of human eyes as a an allegory. I am representing other meanings through eyes and the use of text that I wrote. The eyes are a an allegory for the aperture and lens of the camera. Just as a camera lens receives light, the eyes receive light, and without it cannot see. Also, by setting the aperture you change of focus of the lens, it is the same with eyes. At f-22 everything is in focus. So by showing multiple different eyes of varying colors and shapes, I am showing that everyone is like a lens and we receive light through our eyes. And we are what we see.

IMAGE + TEXT

Artist Statement
Beautiful things are formed from dust. Simply dust. It takes a creator, an artist, to take something of no value and make something beautiful. In this case a potter is being shown in the process of creating something. Only the potter’s hands are shown, because they are the only part that physically does the creating. I want to show the potter’s hands in action. These photographs were inspired by the song “Beautiful Things” by Gungor and the text in the photographs are lyrics from the song. Although I am portraying a potter, the song makes reference to people being made and formed. In other words, we are like clay that is being formed into something beautiful by our creator.

Film Stills Galadriel

Artist Statement

I want to portray Galadriel from The Lord of the Rings in her fairness and heavenly light. I want to show her as glowing and beautiful and very serious yet gentle. Galadriel is an elvish queen who is powerful yet gentle and kind. I want to portray her different characteristics as shown in the films.
