Artist Statement
I am using portraiture of human eyes as a an allegory. I am representing
other meanings through eyes and the use of text that I wrote. The eyes are a an allegory for the aperture and lens of the camera. Just as a camera lens
receives light, the eyes receive light, and without it cannot see. Also, by
setting the aperture you change of focus of the lens, it is the same with eyes.
At f-22 everything is in focus. So by showing multiple different eyes of
varying colors and shapes, I am showing that everyone is like a lens and we
receive light through our eyes. And we are what we see.
